Horizontal Concealed Fan Coil Unit
A horizontal concealed fan coil unit is a compact air conditioning terminal device designed to be installed above a ceiling or within a ceiling void, providing quiet and efficient temperature control without being visible in the occupied space. It typically consists of a fan, a finned-tube heat exchanger (coil), an insulated drain pan, an air filter, and a casing engineered for horizontal airflow. The unit connects to a chilled water and/or hot water system, using the coil to transfer heat between the room air and the circulating water. In operation, return air from the room is drawn through a grille into the ceiling void and passes through the unit’s filter, where dust and particles are removed. The fan then forces the air across the coil. When chilled water flows through the coil, heat from the air is absorbed, lowering the air temperature and dehumidifying it as moisture condenses on the coil surface and is collected in the drain pan. When hot water circulates through the coil, the unit provides heating by transferring heat from the water to the air. The conditioned air is then discharged back into the room through supply diffusers or grilles connected to short duct runs.Because the unit is concealed, only the air grilles and access panels are visible, allowing architects and interior designers to maintain clean ceiling lines and flexible layouts. This configuration is popular in hotels, offices, apartments, hospitals, and other buildings where aesthetics and space efficiency are important. The horizontal arrangement makes it suitable for narrow ceiling spaces and corridors, and it can be located above bathrooms, entrance vestibules, or service zones to facilitate maintenance access.Horizontal concealed fan coil units are available in a wide range of capacities and airflows to match different room loads. Many models offer multiple fan speeds or electronically commutated (EC) motors for improved energy efficiency, quieter operation, and better control. Temperature is typically controlled by a room thermostat or building management system, which modulates fan speed and/or water flow via control valves. Options such as two-pipe or four-pipe configurations allow for cooling only, or simultaneous heating and cooling in different zones of a building.Proper selection and installation are essential for performance and comfort. Designers consider factors such as sensible and latent cooling loads, noise criteria, available ceiling space, pipe routing, condensate drainage, and access for filter cleaning and servicing. With correct design and commissioning, horizontal concealed fan coil units provide reliable, individual zone control, contributing to overall energy efficiency and occupant comfort in modern HVAC systems.

The Horizontal Concealed Fan Coil Unit is a core terminal air handling device for central water-based air conditioning systems, designed for fully concealed horizontal installation within ceiling voids where only the supply air grille, return air grille, and wall-mounted thermostat are visible from the occupied space below. Connected to the building central chilled water and hot water distribution system, the unit draws room air through the return grille, passes it through a copper tube and aluminum fin heat exchanger coil to cool or heat it, and returns conditioned air to the room through the supply grille and ductwork, achieving precise zone temperature control with low noise, high energy efficiency, and zero visual impact on the interior design. The Horizontal Concealed Fan Coil Unit is available in eight capacity models from FP-34WA to FP-238WA, covering nominal cooling outputs from 1.8kW to 12.6kW, airflow from 340 to 2,380 m³/h, and serving room areas from 5 to 60 square meters, with both low static pressure and high static pressure configurations to match short direct-discharge and long duct run installation requirements respectively. Compatible with two-pipe seasonal switching systems and four-pipe simultaneous cooling and heating systems, with left-hand and right-hand water connection options to suit any site pipe routing layout. Manufactured by Dezhou Pengkai Air Conditioning Equipment Co., Ltd. and supplied to HVAC contractors, building developers, and mechanical and electrical consultants serving hotel, office, commercial, residential, hospital, and institutional building projects across Southeast Asia and global markets.
